LOCA is the vision of self-taught chef and entrepreneur Sheila Ward. An elementary teacher for over 20 years, she has been dedicated to teaching about the importance of where our food comes from for some time. Along with business partner and husband Michael, a building from the late 1800s in Wyoming has been lovingly restored to share a passion for a true farm to table experience!

NEW ART SHOW:
Painter Renata Kohoutova Haagsma, came to Sarnia as a very young woman from the Czech Republic. Married to her sweetheart Donald, who she met teaching English in her homeland, she was soon with a baby boy, Philip. Renata struggled to find her way in this new country, despite the love of the Haagsma family, but away from her own, and still so young. She was a fabulous cook, a spunky conversationalist in her second language, and as she found her way in Canada, taught herself to paint, channeling her exceptionally creative soul.

Renata was taken from this world when she was only 37 years old. Ravaged by cancer, in 2013, she said good bye to Donald and Philip in her Czech hometown of Zlin, with her parents and brother also by her side.

Renata was my sister-in-law. I own one of her large abstract paintings which she flat out gave to me when I told her how much I admired it. That was the kind of person she was. The rest of the paintings on our walls have been generously loaned by Donald, Philip and her other sister-in-law, Carmen.

This art is not for sale. It is in loving memory of Renata Kohoutova. 'Na zdravi" to you my sister.
